The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved a project for setting up Economic Zone dedicated for Japanese investors to be set up at Araihazar in Narayanganj with Taka 2,582.18 crore.
With ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, the approval came from the ECNEC meeting held at the NEC Conference Room in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.
Briefing the reporters after the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan said that a total of eight projects were approved on Tuesday involving an overall estimated cost of Taka 6,276.24 crore.
“Of the total project cost, Taka 3,313.92 crore will come from the state exchequer while the rest of Taka 2,962.32 crore from project assistance,” he said.
