EC works for expats’ rights to vote

Chief Election Commissioner K M Nurul Huda said, EC is working for the expatriates’ rights to vote in the coming National Polls.
To ensure the immigrants’ voting rights, Nurul Huda said at a seminar on Thursday, the EC introduced postal voting system, but it did not work. Prime Minister’s Office and other government agencies sent letters to the EC requesting to ensure voting rights of expatriates.
Election Commission organised the seminar on Thursday the necessity of expartiates’ national identity card and voting rights.

The speakers said, the expatriates have enriched our economy. But they face harassment for want of national identity cards in abroad. The speakers called for taking immediate steps to solve the immigrant problem.
Prime Minister’s Economic Advisor Moshiur Rahman, BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan, Jatiya Party Co-Chairman GM Quader, Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder, Md. Rafiqul Islam, Kabita Khanam and Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury, Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, among others, spoke at the seminar.
