EC starts investigation of irregularities in 30 vote centers of BCC election

EC has started investigation on Saturday about alleged irregularities in 30 vote centers of Barishal City Corporation Election held on July 30.
The investigation has been started at Regional Election Office in Kashipur area of Barishal city by taking statements and hearing from presiding, assistant presiding and polling officers, officials of deployed law enforcing agencies and others involved in election process of those centers.
It would be continued from 9:00 am to evening every day till August 14.
Khondaker Mizanur Rahman, joint secretary (election management-2) as convener leading the 4- member investigation committee.
Other three members of the committee were Farhad Hossain, acting deputy secretary of EC, Shahid Abdus Salam, deputy director training of election training institute, Md. Shah Alam, senior assistant secretary (establishment-2).
Convener of the investigation committee of EC told the journalists that they decided to start investigation of 30 vote centers including withheld results of 15 centers and voting-suspended another vote-centre by election commission on election day.
Rest 14 centers were added after receiving allegations from the candidates, he explained.
The contesting candidates were not called to give any testimony, but if any one of them wishes to give any statements verbally or written, we will also accept those.
In the four-day investigation, we shall try to find out irregularities happened during voting, nature, cause and persons liable for those irregularities.
Our report would be submitted within 15 working days after ending investigation to EC.
On basis of our report concerned authourity of EC will decide whether reelection of those centers would be held or official results would be published, convener of the investigation committee added.
