Voter list update: EC signs up 1.45 m voters in 14 days

The Election Commission, or EC, has gathered the data of almost 2.2 million voters, including about 1.5 million new voters, to update the voter list in the past two weeks. The names of about 700,000 dead voters have also been removed from the list.
The updating of the list, which includes the registration of new voters, the removal of the dead and changing the addresses of voters, will end on Wednesday. The deadline will not be extended further, EC officials said.
Dhaka accounts for the highest number of new voters, while Barisal has registered the least.

>> Rajshahi removed the highest number of dead voters from the list with 109,910, while Barisal cut the least, with 32,332
>> Dhaka removed 64,463 dead voters, Chittagong 32,512, Khulna 80,464, Sylhet 67,463, Rangpur 82,166, Mymensingh 106,965, Faridpur 40,489, and Comilla 77,824
>> 36,341 applied for a change of address
The updated voter list is to contain the names of all who will be 18-year-old or older by Jan 1, 2018.
