Minister Group Rajshahi recorded an easy six-wicket win over Gemcon Khulna in their second match of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Thursday.
Electing to bat first, Gemcon Khulna scored 146 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Minister Group Rajshahi sailed home in 17.2 overs making 147 for the loss of four wickets.
Rajshahi had a shaky start as they lost their opener Aminul Islam Emon (2) was caught by Mahmudullah Riyad off Al-Amin Hossain when Rajshahi’s score was 25.
After Emon’s dismissal, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Rony Talukdar contributed 47 runs in the second wicket partnership before Rony Talukdar was caught by Shamim Hossain off Rishad Hossain when Rajshahi’s total was 72 for the loss of seven wickets.
After Rony Talukder’s departure, Najmul Hossain Shanto could stay at the crease for a short period as he was trapped leg before wicket (a controversial decision) by Rishad Hossain when Rajshahi’s score was 87 for the loss of three wickets.
Shanto played a captain’s knock of 55. His 34-ball hurricane innings was decorated with three sixes and six fours. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
Rony Talukdar made 26 from 20 balls including three fours and a six.
After Shanto’s dismissal, Mohammad Ashraful and Fazle Mahmud added 33 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Fazle Mahmud was bowled by Shahidul Islam when Rajshahi’s total was 120 for the loss of four wickets.
Then Mohammad Asharful and Nurul Hasan helped their team to reach the winning spot.
Ashraful remained unbeaten with 25. He hit three fours in his 22-ball innings.
Fazle Mahmud scored 24 from 16 deliveries including two fours and two sixes.
Rishad Hossain of Khulan bagged two wickets at the cost of 34 runs, while Al-Amin Hossain and Shahidul Islam took one wicket apiece.

Then in-form Ariful Haque and Shamim Hossain contributed 49 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Shamim Hossain was caught behind by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan off Ebadat Hossain when Khulan’s score was 100 for the loss of six wickets.
After Shamim’s departure, Ariful Haque and Shahidul Islam put on together 46 runs for the unbroken seventh wicket partnership before Khulna’s innings came to an end.
Ariful Haque remained unbeaten with 41. His 31-ball innings was ornamented with three sixes and two fours.
Shamim Hossain hit 35. His 25-ball knock had saw two sixes and three fours.
Earlier, opener Anamul Haque made 26 from 24 balls featuring three fours and a sixer.
