Dhaka Dynamites registered an easy 19-run win over Chittagong Vikings on their match of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 Cricket at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Thursday.
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Dynamites piled up a healthy total of 148 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then they restricted Chittagong Vikings to 129 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Dhaka Dynamites made a good start as openers Mehedi Maruf and Kumar Sangakkara contributed together 41 runs in the opening stand before Mahedi Maruf was trapped leg before wicket by Mohammad Nabi.
Mehedi Maruf hit a quick-fire 33 from 20 balls featuring six fours and a sixer.
After dismissal of Maruf, Kumar Sangakkara and Nasir Hossain added together 31 runs in the second wicket stand before Nasir Hossain (20) was bowled out by Tymal Mills when Dhaka’s score was 72 for the loss of two wickets.
Then Kumar Sangakkara (17) was trapped leg before wicket by Tymal Mills when Dhaka’s total was 73 for the loss of three wickets.
Later, Dhaka Dynamites batsmen failed to make any notable partnership.
Mosaddek Hossain top-scored with 35. He hit two fours and two sixes in his 26-ball knock before he was caught by Nazmul Hossain Milon off Tymal Mills when Dhaka’s score was 138 for the loss of eight wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan (13) failed to shine with willow as he was bowled out by Mohammad Nabi.
Mohammad Nabi and Tymal Mills of Chittagong Vikings grabbed three wickets each at the cost of 18 and 25 runs respectively.
Later, Chittagong batsmen failed to build any notable partnership against the tight and controlled bowling attack of Dhaka Dynamites.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudul Hasan were the two batsmen who scored modest individual scores.
Tamim Iqbal hit 26 from 35 balls including two fours, while Mahmudul Hasan scored 20 off 22 balls.
Pacer Mohammad Shahid captured three wickets at the cost of 23 runs, while Matt Coles, Dwayne Bravo, Nasir Hossain took one wicket each for 23, 25 and 26 runs respectively.
Mohammad Shahid was adjudged the Man of the Match.
