East Zone take 227 runs lead on day three in BCL

East Zone batsmen taking inspiration from Afif Hossain’s 137, piled up 523 for 7 to take a mammoth 227 lead against South Zone on the third day of four-day Bangladesh Cricket League held on Tuesday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
While South Zone began their second innings with 227 arrears were 29 for no loss when the stumps were drawn for the third day’s play.
Resuming at 290 for 4, North Zone prolonged their innings to pile up 523 runs for 7 wickets declare. Afif with 137 and Tasamul Haque with 98 were North Zone who shone on Monday.
Today on Tuesday it was Alok Kapali with 66 with seven boundaries, Mohammad Saifuddin with unbeaten 50, Rahatul Ferdous with unbeaten 60 with six boundaries and one sixer, Abul Hasan 41 and Yasir Ali with 35 made sure East Zone cross 500 run land mark.
Nazmul Islam Apu was the pick of the South Zone bowler as he returned with a figure of 2 for 98. Abdur Razzak with 2 for 135, Al Amin Hossain with 1/35, and Zia Ur Rahman with 1 for 42 were the other successful South Zone bowlers.
Earlier on Sunday’s South Zone electing to bat, Imrul Kayes’s brilliant 136 and opener Anamul 58 saw them post 296 all out in 80 overs in their first innings.
