East Zone suffer batting jolt on day 2 in BCL

A rearguard action saw Central Zone tail wagged as they prolonged their innings of 232 for 7 to 328 in their first innings against East Zone at stumps on the second day of fourth round four-day Bangladesh Cricket League held on Monday at Khan Shaheb Osma Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
A brilliant bowling spell by Central Zone’s Mohammad Sharif saw East zone were struggling at 114 for 6 in the remaining overs on the second day’s play. Sharif claimed four East Zone scalps for 24.
Imtiaz Hossain with 36, Mominul Haque with 24, Liton Das and Zakir with 18 each were the notable East Zone batsmen.
Central began the day struggling on 232 for 7 thanks to Nurul Hasan (65) and Shuvagata Hom’s usefull (46) salvaged Central Zone from total embarrassment on day one.
Earlier in the day two on Monday, Sharif showed his batting with the willow too as he scored a priceless 70 off 102 balls. He was well supported by skipper Nurul Hasan with 65 as Central Zone were bowled out for 328. Mosharraf Hossain 22, Abu Hider with 18 not out made sure Central Zone cross 300 mark.
East Zone’s Abu Jayed was the leading bowler with 5 for 77. He was well supported by Afif Hossain with 2 for 20 and and Saqlain Sajib with 2 for 67.
