Opener Liton Das scored a magnificent double hundred as Islami Bank East Zone piled up a huge total of 592 for 6 against Walton Central Zone after at stumps on the third day of four-day Bangladesh Cricket League held on Thursday at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
The right handed opener Liton, continuing from his overnight 125-ball 139, went on to complete his double century off 192 deliveries with a four off Elias Sunny’s delivery, after East Zone resumed their first innings on the third day with overnight score at 264 for 3.
Liton eventually fell to Elias Sunny after scoring 274 runs, the highest score of this season, off 293 balls that studded with 35 fours and two sixes.
The 23-year old Liton also was involved in a massive 298-run fourth-wicket partnership with Afif Hossain, who was also shine with bat in the middle with a brilliant knock of 227-ball off 142 runs, an innings that contained 15 boundaries and five sixes.
Jaker Ali with 32 and Mohammad Saifuddin with 29 were on the crease as the stumps were drawn for the third day’s play.
Shuvagata Hom claimed three East Zone’s wickets conceding 156 runs. He was well supported by Elias Sunny who took two for 135.
Earlier, Central Zone were dismissed their first innings at 546. The match is seemingly heading for a tame draw until unless any untoward incidents happen on the last day tomorrow (Friday).
