Cox’s Bazar Correspondent :After death of five people, the local administration, in a drive from Tuesday morning till afternoon, evicted more than 100 vulnerable houses built illegally on the hills in the district town.Besides, connection between Cox’s Bazar and Teknaf has remained off following the collapse of the marine drive road at Kalatali area.A joint team led by Executive Magistrate of the District Administration Ahmad Ali, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Majharul Islam, and Deputy Director of Cox’s Bazar Department of Environment Sarder Shofikul Islam, with the help of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police, conducted the eviction drive from Tuesday morning till 4pm.  Deputy Director Sarder Shofikul Islam said the drive was conducted at Kalatali Lighthouse, Shuknachhari, Mujibnagar, Kalatali Jail Gate, and Dikkul areas of the town.Magistrate Ahmad Ali said the eviction drive will continue.Earlier, the Geological Survey of Bangladesh, in a briefing, said due to heavy downpour, landslides might happen in Cox’s Bazar, Teknaf and Chittagong at anytime. Following the declaration, residents of the vulnerable houses were asked to move to safe placesMeanwhile, five including two children and two women were killed and two injured following a landslide at Dakkhin Baharchhara area of the town on Monday at 2am. Following the incident, the district administration conducted the drive.
