An all round performance by South Africa saw them to post a nail-biting two runs victory over New Zealand in the ICC World T20 held on Monday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here.Chasing South Africa’s 170 runs, New Zealand, rode on Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson’s brilliant half centuries, gave a strong reply, but the South African bowlers restricted New Zealand at 168 in 8 from their allotted 20 overs.Thanks to pacer Dale Steyn for his brilliant bowling spells that brought the Protease to the winning track after they lost their first match to Sri Lanka in the tournament. The highlight of New Zealand innings was Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson’s notable half centuries. Second down Ross Taylor played a fighting 37-ball off 62- run smacking four boundaries and three over boundaries while Kane Williamson cracked 35-ball off 51-run that studded five glorious boundaries and two towering over boundaries.Dale Steyn was the pick of South African bowler taking four wickets for 17 runs. He was well supported by Imran Tahir, who bagged two wickets giving away 27 runs.Jean-Paul Duminy of South Africa was named the player of the match for his impressive innings on the day. Earlier, middle order batsman Jean-Paul Duminy scored a magnificent unbeaten knocks helped South Africa to post a challenging total of 170 for 6 from their allotted 20 overs.The 29-year left-handed batsman Duminy played an impressive 43-ball off 86- run smacking 10 boundaries and three over boundaries to take England to a comfortable position, after the Protease faced early batting jolt losing three top orders batsmen early in the 42 runs of the score board.Duminy however failed to get a little help from the other end on way to his hurricane knocks as the English batsmen failed to build any effective partnership losing wickets in regular intervals in the face of tight bowling attacks by the Kiwis bowlers.Opener Hashim Amla was the other notable South African batsman who scored 41 runs.Corey Anderson and Tim Southee were the pick of New Zealand bowlers taking two wickets each giving away 28 and 46 runs respectively.
