Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Md. Akhtaruzzaman has lauded the role of Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA) as a watchdog of the university.
“Journalists should always bring out the truth before the nation through objectivity. It is the 4th pillar of the state.” the VC said at a seminar held yesterday.
He was speaking at a seminar ‘Barriers to the Profession of Journalism and The Future Challenge’ organised by DUJA at Teacher-Student Center (TSC) auditorium.

At the programme, the new DUJA executive committee with Rayhanul Islam of the Daily New Nation and Mahdi Al Muhtasim Nibir of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) as its head, took charge for 2019 sessions for one year.
Press Club President and Acting Editor of Daily Jugantor Saiful Alam, Dhaka Reporters’ Unity General Secretary Kabir Ahmed Khan, Editor-in-Chief of GTV Syed Ishtiaque Reza, Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Vice President Nurul Haq Nur, DUCSU General Secretary (GS) Golam Rabbani, Assistant General Secretary Saddam Hussain also spoke in the seminar.
