Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique on Monday expressed profound shock at the death of Ajoy Roy, a veteran leftist politician and president of Sammilita Samajik Andolon (SSA), who died on Monday at a city hospital after a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message, Prof Siddique said the death of Ajoy Roy, one of the organizers of different progressive movements including War of Liberation was an irreparable loss to the country.
“He was a secular and progressive man and a true patriot. The nation will always remember his contribution,” the VC added.
Prof Siddique prayed for salvation of departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
