DU to observe Mourning Day remembering JN Hall tragedy

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities will observe Mourning Day on 15th October remembering the Jagannath (JN) Hall tragedy in a befitting manner.
The day is celebrated every year to pay homage to the memory of the students, employees and guests who were killed in a tragic accident in Jagannath hall on the night of 15th October, 1985.
On that day the roof of the dilapidated building of the Jagannath Hall TV room caved in leaving 39 students, guests and employees of the University dead and hundreds others injured in 1985.
Marking the day, the DU authorities have chalked out a series of programmes, including mourning procession, placing wreaths at the memorial on the Jagannath Hall premises, hoisting black flags at all buildings, hoisting the university flag at half mast, offering special prayers at halls and blood donation.
DU teachers, students and officials will take part in the procession from the foot of Aparajeya Bangla at 7:30 am.
‘October Memory Composition Competition’ and ‘October Memory Drawing Competition’ will be organized marking the DU Mourning Day.
