DU teacher sacked on charge of sexual assault

A Dhaka University teacher has been sacked on charge of sexually harassing a student of his department and another teacher suspended for duplicating PhD Thesis.
Sacked Imran Hossain, an Associate Professor of Political Science Department, was previously suspended in 2011.
On the other hand, Omar Faruk, an Associate Professor of Islamic History and Culture
Department, has been suspended on charge of duplicating his PhD thesis from the research of two Turkish professors.
A five-member committee headed by the Pro-VC of Dhaka University has been formed to investigate the incident and assess the gravity of the misconduct after the Turkish professors informed the department of the issue.
The decision was taken at a Syndicate meeting on Tuesday night as the allegation against them was proven true, Syndicate member and DU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman confirmed this.
