DU Shahidullah Hall sets up library remembering Shaheed Asad

University (DU) has set up a library remembering the memory of Amanullah Mohammad Asaduzzaman, the first martyr of mass uprising in 1969 also a resident of the hall.
Prof ASM Maksud Kamal inaugurated the library on Wednesday, constructed with the overall cooperation of Shahidullah hall student union.While addressing the program Maksud Kamal said, “Asad’s sacrifice was the turning point of the 1969’s mass uprising. Despite being accused of five cases, he has never been hopeless; rather he embraced death, giving us an independent nation.”
“This new library facilitates 120 seats that eventually help to resolve the existing sit crisis. Students will be allowed to enjoy the facilities of the library once the university reopens,” said the hall provost Dr Syed Humayun Akhter.
Among others, Dhaka University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) General Secretary Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan, Dean of Social Science faculty Dr Sadeka Halim, Shahidullah Hall Provost Shah Md Masum and house tutors were also present on the occasion.
