A new gold medal titled “Dr Md. Azizul Hakim Gold Medal” has been introduced at the Department of Information Science and Library Management of Dhaka University (DU).
Asuma Begum, wife of late Dr. Md. Azizul Hakim handed over a cheque for Tk. 10 lac to DU Treasurer Prof Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to introduce this gold medal on Wednesday.
Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Abu Md. Delwar Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Information Science & Library Management Prof Dr Kazi Mostak Gausul Hoq, Acting Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman, some other faculty members and donor’s family members were present, among others, on the occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student of DU Information Science & Library Management Department who will secure the highest CGPA in BA Honors examination will be given “Dr. Md. Azizul Hakim Gold Medal”.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donor for her donation and hoped that the students of Information Science & Library Management Department would be inspired by this initiative.
It may be mentioned that Dr Md. Azizul Hakim was born on January 4, 1949 in Kushtia and died on October 4, 2012 in Khulna. He had obtained both MA and PhD degrees from the Department of Information Science and Library Management of Dhaka University.
