DU forms co-ordination committee to observe ‘Amar Ekushey’

To observe the ‘Amar Ekushey February-2018′, Shaheed Dibas (Martyrs’ Day) and International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner, the Dhaka University (DU) authorities formed a Central Coordination Committee.
The committee was made at a preparatory meeting held on Thursday at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the Dhaka University campus with DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair, a DU press release said.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Muhammad Samad, Joint Secretary (Event) of Cultural Ministry Md. Faizur Rahman Faruqui, DU Treasurer Prof Dr Kamal Uddin, senate and syndicate members, deans of different faculties, provosts of the halls, chairmen of various departments, directors of different institutes, representatives of teachers, leaders of officials were present at the meeting.
Dean of the Earth and Environmental Sciences faculty also President of DU Teachers’ Association (DUTA) Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal was made the coordinator while DUTA Vice-President Prof Dr Md Imdadul Hoque and General Secretary Prof Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam were made joint coordinators to the Central Coordination Committee to observe the programmes of the Ekushey February with due respect.
Proctor of the university Prof Dr AKM Golam Rabbani will act as member-secretary of the committee. Besides, 11 sub-committees were also formed in this regard.
The VC asked for all out support from everyone to observe the programmes taken by the coordination committee smoothly and peacefully. At the beginning, one minute silence was observed to show respect to the memories of the martyrs of the Language Movement.
