Dhaka University authorities have degraded a teacher and suspended two officials temporarily over different issues.
The decisions were taken at a Syndicate meeting on Thursday night.
Kutubul Islam Nomani of Arabic Department has been degraded to the position of Assistant Professor after he was found guilty of plagiarism in research, said Akhtaruzzaman, Dhaka University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration).
DU authority also suspended Physical Education Centre’s Director Shawkotur Rahman and Assistant Director Abu Foysal temporarily for providing false information to some online newspapers which agitated general students.
Earlier on March 12, A group of Dhaka University students vandalised
a Jahangirnagar University bus on the DU campus when they were protesting a ‘news’ that newly affiliated seven colleges would be allowed to use DU logo for taking part in sports events. The news, which the DU authorities later said was false.
Later in retaliation, the JU students also vandalised a DU bus rented from BRTC in front of their campus on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway.
