DSEX turnover 2.5-month low

Turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell to a two-and-a-half-month low today when the benchmark index of the premier bourse also fell.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, edged down 5 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 7,243.
Turnover dropped 26 per cent to Tk 1,433 crore, which was Tk 1,952 crore a day earlier.
Stock investors’ participation has been decreasing in the last few days as they became cautious about a possible correction in the market, said a stock broker.
At the DSE, 114 stocks advanced, 219 fell and 43 remained unchanged.
Alif Industries topped the gainers’ list that rose 9.57 per cent followed by Anwar Galvanizing, C&A Textiles, Deshbandhu Polymer, and Fortune Shoes.
HR Textiles shed mostly that lost 7.71 per cent followed by Renwick Jajneswar, National Housing, Fareast Finance and RSRM Steel.
Stocks of Fortune Shoes was traded highest that worth Tk 95 crore followed by Beximco Ltd, IFIC Bank, Orion Pharmaceuticals, and NRB Commercial Bank.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also dropped today. The CASPI, the general index of the port city bourse, edged down 67 points, or 0.31 per cent, to 21,116.
Among the traded 294 stocks, 90 rose, 179 fell and 25 remained unchanged.
