DSEX exceeds 5,600-mark again

Stocks witnessed upward trend on Tuesday as major indices of the both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges closed the session amid a rising trend with active participation of investors.
DSEX, the broader DSE price index, crossed the 5,600-point mark again after May 9 to finish the day with 34.45 points up at 5,619.42. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also maintained the same trend with 2.05 points higher at 1,274.93 and with 9.42 points up at 1,974.31.
Out of the 333 issues traded on DSE, 137 gained against 148 losing issues.
The day’s trade value at DSE stood at Taka 611.71 crore and 17.13 crore shares exchanged hands on the day.
The top five gainers of the day were IPDC, RDFOOD, Intech, ITC and Northern. The top five losers were Pragati Life, Imam Button, SEMLIBBLSF, Monno Ceramics and CAPMIBBLMF. UPGDCL topped the turnover list followed by NHFIL, IPDC, Brac Bank and Lanka Bangla Finance.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day up with its major CASPI index ending 93.36 points higher at 17,307.21. At CSE, out of the 253 traded issues, 108 gained while 114 declined.
The trade value at CSE was Taka 61.65 crore and 2.65 crore shares exchanged.
