The daily trade value at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) crossed Taka 600-crore mark on Wednesday on bullish trading when most issues closed higher.
The turnover value surged to Taka 614.12 crore at the end of Wednesday’s session, which was the highest after January 20 this year. The trade volume also increased accordingly to Taka 15 crore.
The higher transaction drove all the indices further up, with the DSEX closing 21 points higher at 4660.14, DS30 3.10 points up at 1773.45 and DSES 2.04 points up at 1118.15.
The market was highly in favour of sellers as majority of the issues closed higher. Out of the day’s traded 322 securities, 172 gained, 91 incurred loss and 59 remained static.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished the day up, with its major CASPI index ending nearly 38 points up at 14306.02.
Like DSE, majority of the issues advanced on CSE when over 98 shares changed hands for Taka 32.36 crore.
The major gaining sectors on the market were bank, engineering and NBFI when the major gainers included NHFL, AIBL1stMF, Sonali Ansh, Northern Jute and Ambee Pharma.
Cement and telecom sectors were the most losing sectors, with Shympur Sugar, Modern Dyeing, Savar Refectories, Acme Lab and United Insurance lagging most.
Acme Lab was the market leader in trade followed by Square Pharma, Singer Bangladesh, BSCCL and National Tubes.
