DSE sets new record at opening week

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) set a new record today with its major indices reaching a new high on higher transactions.
DSEX finished the day with 36.67 points up at 6,240.57 which were the highest since the introduction of the DSEX on January 27, 2013.
The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 1.43 points up at 2,226.62 and with 6.32 points up at 1,391.59 which were the highest since the introduction of the indices.
The day’s traded value at DSE increased to Taka 1208.03 crore from Thursday’s Taka 1,124.22 crore and the daily trade also rose to 39.56 crore share from 35.18 crore share of the previous session.
Among the traded 332 issues at DSE, 138 closed higher against 151 losing issues.
The top five gaining companies were Rupali Bank, Al Arafah Islami Bank, First Security Bank, Kohinoor and Marico.
The top five losing companies were Standard Ceramic, SAVAREFR, Asia Pacific Insurance, Monno Ceramics and Green Delta.
First Security Bank topped the turnover followed by Al Arafah Islami Bank, Lanka Bangla Finance, Argon Denims and City Bank.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the same trend with its CASPI index 97.45 points up at 19,365.98.
The trade value of the day was Taka 184.18 crore and the volume was 5.73 crore share. Out of the traded 262 issues 115 closed up against 116 lagging securities.
