DSE, CSE index gain in 1st session of Dec

Key share price index at the country’s twin bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) — returned to positive on Monday, the 2nd trading day of the week.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 99.22 points or nearly 2.08 percent to close at 4868.65 on the day. Of the 299 issues traded, 253 gained, 34 suffered loss and 12 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 341.53 crore at the DSE on Monday as against Tk 232.37 crore on Sunday. IDLC Finance said, “Backed by lucrative prices and expectation on upcoming year-end disclosures, first session of December 2014 was upbeat, adding a handsome 99.2 points.”
“DSEX settled at 4,868.6 points since index lost 403.8 points during November, price level of most of the fundamentally sound scripts came to hand, luring general as well as some institutional investors, putting an upward pressure on overall market sentiment”, the investment bank added.
The day’s top 10 gainers at the DSE were Khulna Power Company Limited, MJL Bangladesh, Grameenphone, Lankabangla Finance, Standard Bank, Sonar Bangla Insurance, ACI Formulations, Islamic Finance & Investment, Reliance Insurance, and Trust Bank.
The CSE key index, CSCX gained 200.69 points to reach 9159.95 at close Monday. Of the 212 issues traded, 159 advanced, 39 suffered loss and 14 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 27.13 crore at the CSE on the day.
