DSE crosses 5,700 points again

The broader price index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Sunday crossed the 5,700-point mark on higher activities of large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were textile, financial institutions, engineering and banks. A total of 236 securities of the large-cap group moved up due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 149.70 points up at 5,747.14. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 25.23 points up at 1,339.88 and 43.98 points up at 2,150.01.
The day’s trade at DSE rose to 15.23 crore shares from Thursday’s 12.71 crore shares. But the daily trade decreased to Taka 441.01 crore from Taka 470.36 crore of the previous session. At DSE, out of the day’s 338 securities, prices of 298 securities closed higher against 25 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Shasha Denims, Premier Leasing, Usmania Glass, OAL and First Security Bank. The major losing issues were Nitol Insurance, VAMLRBBF, CAPMIBBLMF, Wata Chemical and Takaful Insurance.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by Beximco, Monno Ceramics, Mercantile Bank and BRAC Bank.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day with upward trend with its major CASPI 489.29 points up at 17,704.41.
At CSE, issues traded 238 while 208 closed higher against 25 closed lower when 86.60 lakh shares worth Taka 30.21 crore changed hands.
