DSE and CSE indices drop

Key Share price index at the country’s twin bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – hits the year’s lowest on Wednesday, the fourth trading day of the week.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX dropped 30.30 points or 0.71 percent to close at 4252.95 on the day. Of the 309 issues traded, 92 gained, 187 declined and 30 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 525.58 crore changed hands at the DSE on Wednesday against Tk 439.82 crore on Tuesday.
The day’s top 10 losers at the DSE were Dhaka Bank, Zahintex Industries, Apex Tannery, National Life Insurance, United Power Generation & Distribution, United Insurance, ACI Formulations, Standard Insurance, Grameen One: Scheme Two, and Peoples Leasing and Financial Services.
The top five turnover leaders at the DSE were United Power Generation & Distribution Company, Khulna Power Company, Western Marine Shipyard, ACI, and Saif Powertec.
The CSE key index, CSCX lost 96.22 points to reach 7957.16 at close on Wednesday. Of the 238 issues traded, 70 advanced, 146 suffered loss and 22 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 42.06 crore on the day at the CSE.
