DSCC starts ‘clean Dhaka’ campaign

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Saturday started a weeklong ‘Clean Dhaka’ campaign. The programme is marking the 99th birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon inaugurated the campaign before starting a rally from in front of Nagar Bhaban.
“If everyone helps us to keep our city clean, it is surely possible. We need to be most careful to make our environment healthier. We are going to start the clean Dhaka campaign to recover our city from mismanagement and waste,” Mayor Khokon said.
The mayor also urged the city dwellers to call DSCC hotline number 09611000999 if they see garbage on the street.
The DSCC mayor led a colorful procession that paraded city streets. Chief Executive Officer Khan Mohammad Bilal moderated the programme, while councilors Muhammad Farid Uddin Ratan, Abdul Hamid and Helena Akter delivered speech, among others.
Discussion meetings, seminars, mosquito elimination programme, Art competitions and meditation are among the weeklong campaign.
