Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has issued show-cause notices on 21 councillors on October 23.
Of them, 19 councillors from general wards and two from reserved seats remained absent in more than three consecutive board meetings without showing valid reason.
In the show-cause notices, they were asked to explain their positions within seven days, said Uttam Kumar Roy, DSCC Public Relations Officer.
He said that the councillors did not attend the three board meetings.On October 17, DSCC removed councillor of Ward No. 9 AKM Mominul Haque Sayeed from his post for his alleged involvement in casino business.
The authorities took punitive action against councillor Sayeed following allegations of his links to illegal casinos business.
