A suspected drug peddler was killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Marine Drive Road in Teknaf upazila on early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Hanif, 38, son of Kashem Ali of Natmora area.
Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station, said Hanif was arrested on Wednesday from the upazila. Police later conducted a drive in the area along with him to recover firearms and Yaba.
Criminals opened fire as soon as police reached the area, triggering a gunfight, the OC said.
