A Chittagong court in a verdict here on Wednesday awarded life imprisonment to a drug trader for trading in drug at Kadamtoli area under Kotwali thana in the city on July 13 in 2009.
Chittagong Metropolitan session judge Mohammad Obydus Sobhan delivered the judgment today convicting the accused Abdul Aziz, 35, son of Abdul Halim, hailing from Postarpar area under Doublemooring thana.
The court also fined the drug trader TK 25 thousand and in default to suffer one more year in jail.
The prosecution story in brief is that Narcotics control department of Chittagong detained Abdul Aziz with 80 bottles of phensidyle from the convicted person on the evening of July 13 in 2009 from Kadamtali area under Kotwali thana in the city.
Tapan Kanti Sharma, Inspector of Narcotics control department, filed a case with Kotwali thana against Aziz in connection with the drug smuggling.
The court examined a total of six prosecution witnesses in the trial process and held the accused person responsible for the crime, sources said.
