Drug smuggling thru C’Bazar border to be stopped : IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwari on Sunday said that police have been working to stop drug peddling through Cox’s Bazar in order to curb narcotics spreading.
We have already taken necessary steps to check peddling of drugs in the district as most of the drug items entered the country from Teknaf Upazila of the district.
The IGP said this to the reporters while speaking as the Chief Guest after inaugurating a four-storied new building for Chakaria Police Station on Sunday.
He also cut two tapes ahead of launching Ukhiya Police Circle Building and Eidgah Police Investigation Building in the Upazila.
Police have netted on smugglers to stop narcotics smuggling to save the future generation, the IGP said.
We have developed the service quality to reach to the countrymen by using modern equipment and logistic supports, the Police Chief said.
In a query, he said, ” Police will continue the illegal arms recovery drive. We have taken all kinds of effective steps to stop use of not only illegal fire arms, but also use of legal weapons.”
Additional Inspector General of Police Headquarters (PHQs) Shafiqul Islam, its Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Habibur Rahman, DIG of Chattogram Rango Khandakar Golam Faruq, Chattogram Police Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman and Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar district Md Kamal Hossain were present with Superintendent of Police (SP) A B M Masud Hossaain.
