`Drug peddler` killed in Feni police firing

A suspected drug peddler who suffered bullet wounds during a brief gunfight with police at Charaitkandi village in sadar upazila on Friday night died at Sadar Hospital on Saturday morning.
Acting on information, police raided the house of ‘drug peddler’ Nurul Afsar Fakir Ahmed, 35 at night, said Md Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of Sonagazi Model Police Station.
Sensing the police presence, Nurul along with his family members attacked them, prompting the law enforcers to fire in retaliation which left Nurul wounded with bullets. He was taken to local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the morning. Police also arrested his two brothers-Moin Uddin Alamgir, 32, and Salah Uddin, 21– along with 10 kilograms of hemp, 805 pieces of Yaba pills, heroin and liquor. The OC also claimed that six policemen were injured during the fight.
