A Barisal court on Tuesday afternoon sentenced a drug peddler to life-term imprisonment and fined Tk.20 thousand or to serve more 6 months imprisonment in default.
Rafikul Islam, judge of the tribunal for preventing crimes against public safety in Barisal, announced this verdict in absence of the fugitive accused Mizanur Rahman Milon, son of Ataharuddin Khalifa of Jhalakathi district town.
The court after examining 10 out of 13 witnesses and other evidences announced this verdict.
Asgor Hossain, bench clerk of the court, said accused Milon was arrested from Rupatali area of Barisal city by detective branch of police on May 19, 2014. Then 25 bottles of Phensidyl were recovered from his possessions.
A case was lodged in this connection by Sub Inspector Ahsan Kabir with Kotwali police station on the same day.
