Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud has stressed on building a drug-free society to save the youths from the severe consequences of drugs for establishing them in the society.
“A drug addict is destroying himself and his family alongside misleading his friends and neighbours. The youths should dream of giving up drugs and establishing themselves in the society,” he said.
The RpMP Chief made the observations while addressing a seminar on the contemporary thought ‘Context: Drugs’ for moral development of the youths on Monday afternoon as the chief guest, a press release said today.
Lions Club of Rangpur (LCR), District 315 A2 organised the seminar at its office in observance of the October Service Fortnight 2021 with the assistance of the International Association of Lions Clubs.
The chief guest said the youths are not only losing their self-esteem by consuming drugs, getting drunk, stealing and robbing, but all the members of the family are also losing their self-respect.
“The youths should have to dream, to plan and to work accordingly to establish themselves as successful and respected persons in the society. If youths respect themselves, their families will also be respected,” he said.
