A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive sealed a drug factory for manufacturing fake antibiotics for the treatment of cardiac, asthma, allergies and vitamin tablets in the city’s Bangshal area on Monday afternoon.
The court caught the owner of the factory red-handed and sentenced him one year jail and fined Tk two lakh. The owner has been identified as Akbar Hossain, 40, inhabitant of Kashaituli under Bangshal Police Station.
RAB’s Executive Magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha passed the order.
The elite force said that the factory authority used
to forge signature of the Director General of Drug Administration for creating fake certificates to produce six kinds of medicines.
He had been doing it since 2012, they said.
RAB-10’s Assistant Police Super (ASP) Sazzad Hossain conducted the drive.
