Chittagong district administration has started a campaign to evict the risky and illegal occupants at various places in the hills on both sides of the Bayazid link road, Kattali and Hathazari portion in the city. Six executive magistrates led the eviction drives. About 370 settlements in these three places have been evicted. Of them 110 in Bayzid link road, 70 in Sitakunda hill s and 190 in Hathazari portion of the link road, sources said.
The operation was launched on Sunday at around 11:30 am by six executive magistrates of the district administration.
Hathazari Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sharif Ullah and Patenga Circle Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Ehsan Murad are conducting the operation.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate of Chandgaon Circle Mamnoon Ahmed Anik and Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate of Kattli Circle Muhammad Enamul Hasan are conducting the operation in Kattali of the city.
Sitakunda Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate of Sitakunda Rashedul Islam and Chittagong Sadar Circle Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Masuma Jannat were also present.
Chittagong District Administration Executive Magistrate Mamnoon Ahmed Anik said the decision to evict the risky hill settlements was taken at various places in the district from today (Monday) at the Chittagong office of the Environment Department.
