Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a bus driver and his assistant on charge of pushing off a speech-impaired woman from the bus on the road as she could not pay fare.
They were arrested from South Keraniganj area around 2:00am on Tuesday.
The accused are Md Nahid, 25, driver of N Mullick Paribahan, and his assistant Md Sabuz, 19.
RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Director Lt Col Ashik Billah confirmed the matter in a press briefing at
RAB headquarter on Tuesday.
He said that both the driver and his assistant confessed to RAB their guilt.
An attempt to murder case is under process against them, he added.
Earlier, a running bus of N Mallick Paribahan on the Dhaka-Nawabganj Road pushed off a speech-impaired woman on the road as she could not pay fare.
The incident took place in Rohitpur area of Keraniganj upazila on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, the video footage of the incident went viral on social media. Several lakh of people shared the video. In the comments, many strongly condemned and protested the incident.
