Climate change affect: Drive to plant 10 million seeds of date

Barishal district administration on Saturday started drive to plant 10 million seeds of date-trees to adapt with climate change affects and prevent erosion of soil.
S M Ajiar Rahman, deputy commissioner Barishal inaugurated this three-month long programmes in ten upazilas of Barishal.
An inauguration ceremony of this programme was held at Babuganj upazila Pilot Girls School ground on Saturday noon.
He said date seeds would be planted on roadsides, canal and river banks, sides of houses and educational institutions.
Forest directorate will help the district administration in implementing this programme, the DC informed.
Among others Shahidul Islam, additional deputy commissioner(general), Abul Kalam, divisional forest officer, Haridas Shikari, deputy director agriculture extension directorate, Sujit Haoladar, upazila nirbahi officer, Nusrat Jahan Khan, assistant commissioner (land), Iqbal Ahmed Azad, upazila chairman, teachers and students of the school.
