The government will publish a draft list of Freedom Fighters (FFs) by March 26 next year, Liberation War Affairs Minister Advocate AKM Mozammel Haque said yesterday.
“The FFs will be given special citizen status and digital certificates and identity cards for removing forgery,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a reception accorded to freedom fighters at Olympic Association auditorium here.

reception for FFs of Narail with its President Shyamol Das Titu in the chair.
The programme was also addressed, among others, by general secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Sharif Nurul Ambia, Freedom Fighter Habibul Alam, Bir Pratik, Munshi Nazrul Islam, Miah Mohammad Mujibur Rahman and Talukder Humayun Kabir.
The minister said all the FFs will be given the title of ‘War Hero’ and special citizen status. He said the government will initiate measures to highlight memory of the FFs among the new generation and the FFs will be buried in identical graveyards across the country.”
He said the government will also enact a law to write ‘Bir Muktijodhha’ before every FF’s name.
