Dr Yunus gets bail

Four people including Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus yesterday got bail in a case filed against them on the charge of violating Labour Law.
Dr Yunus surrendered in Dhaka’s Third Labour Court on Tuesday with bail plea.
After hearing on the case, the court granted him bail upon a bond of Tk 10,000. Three other accused are- Grameen Telicom Managing Director Md Ashraful Hasan and two members of the Board of Directors Nur Jahan Begum and Md Shahjahan.
Earlier, on September 12, the court summoned them to appear in the court on October 12. On September 9, Factories and Organizations Directorate Inspector Arifuzzaman lodged the case.
The case was filed on the charges of not depositing specific dividend in the Labour Welfare Foundation, not making the workers permanent and not en-cashing their mass leave under the sub-sections 7,8,117 and 234 of section 4.
