The seventh death anniversary of renowned nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr MA Wazed Miah will be observed today.
Different organisations have completed preparations to observe the day in a befitting manner. Pirganj Upazila Awami League, Pirganj Press Club, MA Wazed Foundation, component parties of grand alliance and Awami League’s front organizations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the seventh death anniversary.
The programmes include placing of wreaths
at the grave of Wazed Miah, fateha and milad mahfil, commemorative discussions and feeding the destitute. President M Abdul Hamid yesterday issued a message paying tributes to the memory of Dr Wazed Miah.
Talking to BSS, Upazila Awami League General Secretary Advocate Tamizul Islam Shamim said the days programme will begin in the morning with placing wreaths at the grave of Wazed Miah. Food will be distributed among the poor after a discussion meeting and doa mahfil on the Premises of Joysadar at Fatepur. A commemorative meeting will be held at Upazila Awami League office at 5 pm. Another discussion meeting will be held at the local press club in the evening.
