Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (ADG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), had the information about the irregularities in corona sample testing by JKG Healthcare. She also warned Sabrina’s husband and JKG Healthcare CEO Arif Chowdhury about it.
Talking to a media outlet on Monday, Nasima said Arif Chowdhury threatened her of bad consequences instead stopping his fraudulence following her warning. After receiving the information that JKG was collecting samples in exchange for money, Nasima said she verbally warned Arif. The DG said she also cautioned Arif that DGHS would stop cooperating with JKG if they do not shun irregularities.
Nasima said it made Arif angry and he threatened her over telephone with a reference to the highest office of the state.
Meanwhile, Arif’s wife Dr Sabrina was interrogated at the DB office today. She was taken to the DB office on Tuesday morning for questioning.
She was placed on a three-day remand on Monday in a case filed over deceiving people by giving false coronavirus test reports. A Dhaka court passed the order after she was produced before it with a four-day remand prayer. The court also denied her bail petition. Earlier on Sunday, Sabrina was expelled from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases by the Health Ministry.
According to a statement of the ministry, police arrested Sabrina for allegedly engaging in fake corona test reports and embezzling huge money.
Sabrina was called to the Tejgaon DC office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for questioning on Sunday.
After the primary grilling, Sabrina was arrested.
On June 24, police arrested her husband and JKG Health Care CEO Ariful Chaudhury and four others from the capital for allegedly providing fake coronavirus test reports without carrying out any test.
A case was also filed against them in this regard.
