Dr Kabir joins BARC as Executive Chairman

Dr Md Kabir Ikramul Haque joined as the new Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) on Thursday. Earlier, he served as the Member Director (fisheries) and Director Project Implementation Unit (NATP phase II) in the same organization. Dr Kabir replaced his predecessor Dr Bhagya Rani Banik. Dr Kabir Ikramul Haque was born in a respected Muslim family at Dhanmondi, Dhaka on January 1, 1961. He began his career as Scientific Officer (SO) at Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI), Mymensingh on February 28, 1987 and subsequently joined BARC as Principal Scientific Officer (Fisheries) on February 7, 2007.
Dr Haque obtained BSc in Fisheries (Honours) from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 1984. Later, he obtained his post graduate degree from the same University in Fisheries Biology and Limnology in 1985. He did his PhD in Hydro Biology (Fisheries) in 1995 from Kharkov State University, Ukraine.
Dr Kabir has 30 years practical experience in the field of agricultural research, research management, project management and policy development. He has 35 scientific publications in different prestigious journals at home and abroad.
