Professor Dr. Anwarul Karim has been awarded ‘Nazrul Padak’ by the TamuddunMajlish, Dhaka in recognition of his contribution to the rebel poetNazrul and his works.The decision of awarding Nazrul Padak to Professor Karm was announced formally in a program on the occasion of Nazrul birth anniversary held recently by the Tamuddun Majlish
Dr. Siddique, the President, Tamuddun Majlish on Saturday, July 2, this year handed over the Nazrul Padak personally to Professor Anwarul Karim at his office in a simple ceremony along with the office bearers of the Tamuddun Majlish.It was attended among others by the other members of the Tamuddun Majlish and theTreasurer Professor Sheikh Ekramul Islam and the Registrar Commodore Munirul Islam of Northern University Bangladesh.
Professor Karim was awarded the ‘Nazrul Padak’ for his unique contribution to the poetry and music of Nazrul.He has so far published three notable research works on Nazrul. These include 1) Nazrul Tar Samkaley by Nazrul Shahitya Shambhar, Dhaka 2) Nazruler Tin Abishwaraniyo Bandhu, Shailazananda, Comrade MuzaffarAhmed and Muhammad Nasiruddin by Takkhashila, Dhaka and 3). Kabi Nazrul : Bharatbarser Swadhinata and Sampiodayikara by Karubak, Dhaka. He has 43 research books and over hundred, monographs to his credit
Professor Dr., Anwarul Karim is a pioneering a researcher on Folklore Lalon, and Baul together with Rabindranath Tagore and Nazrulbeside Folkloreand Cultural Anthropology. He visited Bagdad, Iraq in 1975 and delivered lectures on Sufism and Baul at the international seminar on music, He was Visiting Professor atthe ten top universities in India in 1983 and worked as the Visiting Scholar at the Harvard University in1985).
