DPDT launches ‘Industrial Property Automated System’

The Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT) has launched ‘Industrial Property Automated System’ to offer quick service for patent, design and trademark registration in industrial and service sectors.
“Importance of intellectual property is immense in the present world and Bangladesh is increasing its investment to sustain in the completion of talent and creative works … we will continue this investment to build enlightened society based on modern technology,” said Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu while inaugurating the launching programme here today.
He said Bengali nation is always in a leading position among the south-east Asian countries because of its intellectual aptitudes and creativities. Many sons of this soil have increased Bangladesh image abroad by proving their excellences in innovation and research works, he added.
“If they get an enabling environment they will be able to take the country to a prestigious position,” he added.
Industries secretary Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah attended the programme as the special guest with DPDT registrar Jamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury in the chair.
Bangladesh Computer Samity president Mostafa Jabbar presented the keynote paper. DPDT deputy registrar Elias Bhuiyan and representative of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Abdel Baccouche, among others, also spoke.
