Dowry-victim woman’s body recovered, two held in Chandpur

Matlab Uttar Thana Police recovered the hanging body of a housewife named Rekha Begum,28. wife of Jamir Hossain on Saturday from her dwelling house at Joypur char under Matlab Uttar Upazila.
It is widely presumed , failing to bring dowry money of Tk two lakhs from her poor father and brothers, Rekha committed suicide hanging from the ceiling of the tin- shed house early Saturday-said OC Matlab Uttar Thana Kabir Hossain adding that Rekha’s husband Jamir , 35,and her mother -in- law Rabeya Begum,50, were arrested later in this connection.
 After interrogation by Police, they both were sent to jail hazot through court on Sunday. OC Kabir Hossain added, Rekha’s husband was putting pressure upon Rekha to bring two lakhs of taka as dowry money from her father and brothers for starting a shop at Dhaka. But she could not bring it because of acute poverty of her poor father and brothers. So, she had no other means but to commit suicide early Saturday. She was 5- months pregnant . On getting the report, Sub Inspector Feroze recovered the hanging body of Rekha and sent it for post mortem to Chandpur Hospital morgue on Saturday afternoon. After interrogation by Police, they both were sent to jail hazot through court on Sunday. A case was filed in this connection.
