‘After assumption of power Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done a lot for development of the country’, State Minister for Finance MA Mannan said this while he was speaking as chief guest at a workshop on ‘Sapna Package’ organized by Development Organisation of the Rural Poor (DORP) held at Kaliganj Upazila Parishad premises recently.
He further said, “She has done many development programs for a nation of 16 crore people where many live below poverty levels. The government has realized this Sapna Package program to ensure that the men in the families are more caring of their wives who are to be mothers.”
Presided over by Meher Afroz Chumki, MP, State Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs.
The President in her speech said, “Financial independence for women is the only way to ensure equal rights in our society. To meet this end, the government has taken many different initiatives.’
She further opined, ‘Sapna Package’ is an important social assistance program to provide financial assistance to women during the maternity period. The government has initially implemented this program in 10 upazilas and gradually to be expanded in all upazilas of the country.
