Door to door voters’ enrolment to begin May 20: EC

The Election Commission will start updating the voter list from May 20.
Representatives of the EC will go from door to door for three weeks from May 20, to collect information from prospective voters, Ashok Kumar Debnath, EC Additional Secretary told the media.
From May 20, enumerators will start visiting door to door in 135 upazilas of the country. “They (enumerators) will collect information about prospective voters,” he said. Those born between January 1, 2004, and January 1, 2007, would be eligible to become voters this time, Ashok said.
He further said after collecting information, the dates, centres for taking photo, biometric and eyeris will be fixed later.
According to EC’s March 2 update information, Bangladesh currently has 11, 32, 870, 10 voters. Of them 5, 76, 89, 529 are males and 5, 55, 970, 27 females and 454 third gender voters.
EC officials said after compiling with the voter list with photographs of 2006-2007, voter information was collected by going door to door in 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and most recently in 2019-2020.
