Staff Reporter :Attorney General Mahbubey Alam on Sunday urged all concerned to exercise restraint in making comments about the Chief Justice and to refrain from giving any statement, which is ‘unconstitutional’.”When the case was filed against Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, there were so many gossips and juicy stories. Everybody ultimately saw the verdict of his case. So, everybody should wait and see, and to have patience and trust in the judiciary; because it is one of the major three organs of the State. We ask all not to make the judiciary ‘controversial,’ he said. The Chief Law Officer of the State came up with the suggestions, while talking to reporters at his office in the wake of Food Minister Quamrul Islam and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque’s statement demanding the resignation of the Chief Justice for his reported remarks that “The prosecution is doing politics with the trial of condemned war criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Quasem Ali.”The two Ministers made the demand at a roundtable discussion organised by Ekattorrer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee in the city on Saturday. Earlier, on February 23, during the hearing of arguments on Mir Quasem Ali’s death row review petition, the Chief Justice reportedly expressed dissatisfaction at the activities of the prosecution and the investigation officers. On the other hand, Food Minister Quamrul Islam accused the Chief Justice of speaking in such a tone that has cast doubts about the fair trial of Mir Quasem Ali, Jamaat Leader and condemned war crime convict. At an extended meeting of the Dhaka City Awami League held in the central office of the Bangladesh Awami League on Sunday, the Food Minister said it. The date of judgment of hearing the arguments on Mir Quasem Ali’s death row review petition is 8th March. But conspiracy still goes on to save him. On that day, we shall remain in the field. We understand nothing, but we want what we expect.City Awami League President and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said, we have been waiting for the highest penalty for Mir Quasem Ali. If there is any different, the souls of the Martyrs will not forgive.Meanwhile, BNP Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has termed the statements of two Cabinet Ministers namely Food Minister Quamrul Islam and Liberation War Affairs Minister A K M Mozammel Haque as ‘contempt of court.’ The BNP protests their unnecessary statement. The BNP leader was giving his reaction to the recent debate over the Chief Justice’s comments during appeal trial proceedings of Mir Quasem Ali. “The two Ministers’ comment remind us return of the BAKSAL of 1975.Rizvi was giving saying this on Sunday in a press briefing at the party’s central office.
