Doctors at private hospitals and clinics in the district went on an indefinite strike on Sunday, protesting the drive at different private clinics and hospitals by RAB in the city.
The decision was taken by Private Medical Institutions Association on Sunday.
Earlier, Bangladesh Medical Association held a meeting at the BMA office at Chattogram Medical College in the afternoon.
Dr Mujibul Haq, president of Bangladesh Medical Association, Chattogram and its general secretary Dr Foysal Iqbal Chowdhury were present at the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) launched separate drives following allegations of irregularities at two private hospitals— Max Hospital at Mehedibag and Metropolitan Hospital at GEC intersection-in the port city.
Following the drive, the owners and physicians at different private clinics and hospitals refrained from providing medical services to patients.
